Meet our school counselors!

Janeil Jones- Elementary Counselor

Janeil Jones has her master’s degree in school counseling and a bachelor’s in psychology. She has worked in the field of Child Life, working with hospitalized children.  She took a hiatus to stay at home as her kids grew and have typed medical transcription from home during that time.  She is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada.  Janeil moved to South Jordan almost 13 years ago with her family. She has been married for almost 19 years to a native Utahan and they have three children.  This is her fifth year as an ELA family.  In her free time she loves to read, sing, and play video games with her kids.  She also really love all things Harry Potter and Marvel!  Janeil is excited to be a part of the ELA community and looks forward to getting to know all the students!



Teena Carper- Junior High Counselor

Teena Carper is a Utah native.  She earned her BS-Social Studies Composite degree with a License for Secondary Education from Brigham Young University.  She earned her MS-Psychology degree with a License for School Counseling from Utah State University.  She has committed an entire career to help students reach their potential.  She has spent decades working with kindergarten through adult learners as an educator and a counselor.  Teena agrees with Gandhi when he said, “Be the Change you wish to see in the World.”

In her free time, Teena loves spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, traveling and boating.

Systemic Needs Assessment 

The systemic needs assessment is anonymous but does ask for demographic information so we can disaggregate the information based on student population.  Question topics involve college and career readiness plans, stress management, and other academic indicators.
