Diana Johns was born and raised in the great state of Texas and is one of those obnoxiously proud Texans. Truthfully, the only thing she truly misses about her home state are the family members that still reside there.
She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas State University and started her teaching career, in 1993, deep in the inner city of Dallas. In 1999, desperate to escape the Texas heat, her family relocated to Colorado where she spent ten of those years as a stay-at-home mom and the other ten back in the classroom, teaching Language Arts and Social Studies in 6th grade.
She and her husband collectively have six incredible children together, who are all grown up now. Her children wholeheartedly believe that she has replaced them with her incredibly precious and insanely cute Shelties . . . . a fact she will not confirm, nor deny. Even though they all have busy adult lives and some are scattered across the country, they remain a very tight-knit family who cherishes spending time together. Her daughters followed her passion with horses and one daughter still competes heavily in equestrian events, specifically jumping. You will often find Diana at the barn with one of their four horses, in what she calls “horse therapy”. She also immensely enjoys traveling and has, what some believe to be, an unhealthy fascination with reality shows.
She is truly excited about her new adventures here in Utah, and especially about joining the 5th-grade team here at ELA. She has a passion for teaching and providing a safe emotional environment for each of her students.
