Heather Kirkpatrick was born in Washington State but grew up in Rexburg, Idaho. Upon graduating from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, she taught English in Japan for a year. It was during this time that she discovered that teaching was a passion where she could make a difference. Upon returning to the United States, Heather moved to Texas where she completed her Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education through Western Governors University. She is joining ELA after teaching 6th and 7th-grade Social Studies in Aurora, Colorado, and has recently completed her Master of Science in Psychology.
Her interests include being outdoors, hiking, camping, scuba diving, traveling, experiencing other cultures, playing musical instruments, learning, personal and professional growth, and helping others. Heather is excited about this new adventure and to become a part of the ELA community.
