Jessica Brinkerhoff joined the ELA staff for the 2018-2019 school year as a part-time third grade teacher with Mica Hawkins! She was a stay-at-home mom for five years and taught piano lessons for four of those years. Prior to this (2003-2012, she taught for nine years at Jordan Hills Elementary in the Jordan School District, teaching 3rd and 4th grades. She was the first at the school to be asked to teach a 3rd/4th grade split class, which was a very interesting and fun experience. Jessica has always had a passion for teaching, ever since she was a little girl. She loves to see her students learn while having fun, and promotes an organized, fun-loving, and challenging atmosphere.
Mrs. Brinkerhoff was born in Alabama, and lived the "army brat" lifestyle until she was 12 years old, when her father got out of the military. She lived in Georgia, Germany, Tennessee, and Washington. She graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She loves to read (especially historical fiction), watch movies, go shopping, make crafts, decorate her home, play the piano, sing, hike, play sports, exercise, cook, bake, and spend time with her husband and kids. Her husband, James, is a video game programmer, and they have three children: Jayden (6), Alexa (4), and Connor (1.5), who all mean the world to her. She is excited to be back to teaching the third grade again and to share her love of learning!
