Kathryn Dunn

1st Grade Teacher

Mrs. Dunn is so happy to be a part of the Early Light Academy team.  She grew up the oldest of 3 girls in Provo, Utah, where she and her sisters performed regularly at banquets and programs.  She graduated from Brigham Young University in 1980, with a Bachelor of Science degree in a Composite of 7 majors.  While at BYU, she performed with the A Cappella Choir, the Sounds of Freedom, and the Young Ambassadors, and represented her school and church across the United States and in 6 different countries.

Kathryn is the mother of 11 children, and grandmother of 19 (as of 2019).  Her family has a gift for singing together, and have performed in many places in the Salt Lake Valley, including the Festival of Trees for over 10 years.  She taught piano and vocal instruction while her little ones were growing up, and has been the director of show choirs for 7 years.  Her hobbies are gardening, sewing, cooking, family history, camping, preparedness education, raising a backyard chicken flock, and next year, becoming an apiarist (caring for a hive of busy honeybees).

Mrs. Dunn's career outside her home has spanned teaching 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, as well as being an assistant in the SPED department since 2007.  She’s so glad to be here!
