Mackenzie's love for teaching blossomed when she had the opportunity to spend time in Lima, Peru, teaching English to elementary-aged children. This experience pushed her to study Elementary Education. Throughout her college career, she spent her time substitute teaching at local schools. She spent the 2019-2020 school year student teaching, which only strengthened her love for teaching and helping students reach their full potential. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Inclusive Elementary Education from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. She also received endorsements in Special Education and Teaching English as a Second Language.
Mackenzie is originally from Texas, but has resided in Colorado for the past eleven years. She is excited to begin a new adventure in Utah, with her little boy!
Outside of teaching, Mackenzie enjoys watching movies, exploring new places, spending time outside with her son, and being with her family and friends.
One of her biggest goals is to make learning exciting for all her students. She knows all students learn differently, and aims create lessons that reach all types of learners. She values peer collaboration and discussion within the classroom. Her goal is for each student to feel successful and develop a sense of perseverance and love for learning.
