Melissa has lived in the Salt Lake Valley almost her entire life. She graduated from Riverton High School where she took a peer tutoring class helping students with disabilities. This class helped fuel a desire within her to obtain the skills and education necessary to help individuals with disabilities.
After obtaining an Associate's Degree from Snow College, she continued her education at Utah State University where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Special Education with a Severe Endorsement. After graduating from Utah State in 2013 Melissa taught 3rd-5th grade at Dan Peterson School in Alpine School District. Afterwards, she taught 10th-12th grade at Herriman High School in Jordan School District. She taught academic and life skills classes and also ran a peer tutoring program to provide inclusion for all students.
Over the course of her five years at Herriman High, Melissa created a reputation of hard work and success which led to her being selected as a consultant for Early Light Academy. Melissa started consulting for Early Light Academy during the 2018-2019 school year and thoroughly enjoyed her experience. She was pleased when an opportunity became available to join the faculty at Early Light Academy. She loves the family feel of the school and is excited to work with the faculty, students, and parents.
Melissa and her husband Josh met at Utah State University. They have been married for seven years. They have two cute little boys named Ethan and Cooper. Ethan is a rambunctious three year old and Cooper is a curious one year old. Her hobbies include spending time with family, playing tennis, camping, hiking, four wheeling and running.
