Michelle Lalor-Houghton was born and raised in the beautiful city of Limerick, Ireland. She has resided in the US for seven years. Michelle graduated from University College Cork with a B.A. in English Literature and Sociology. In London, she completed eighteen months of voluntary service. Later in Greece, she worked with Water Hoppers Diving School training first-time divers. She enjoyed her teaching experiences in London and Greece so much that she decided to pursue a fulltime career in teaching and graduated in 2004 from Dublin City University in Elementary Education. Michelle has taught all elementary grades in her ten years of teaching.
Michelle loves to sing and play guitar and likes to bring musical influence into the classroom. She is passionate about helping children excel in all aspects of their learning and incorporating the Arts to help them do so. She is a life long learner who continually seeks opportunities to improve her skill and shares her enthusiasm for learning with her students. She is a strong advocate of a partnership between parent and teacher in helping children achieve their goals.
Michelle is married with one son. Second to being a mother, her highest calling in life is teaching. Michelle has been with ELA since it’s opening in 2009.
